REGINA KELLAND CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Regina Kelland has been described by Billboard Magazine as “one of the seminal figures in the kids’ business.” She has worked with artists, publicists, record labels, distributors, press, lawyers, agents, advertisers, managers, manufacturers, graphic artists, photographers, venues ... and the list goes on.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

  • 32 years in the music industry specializing in the marketing, sales and promotion of children’s audio and video/DVD.
  • For the past 20 years running the consulting business To Market Kids (formerly Kelland Consulting) specializing in creating and implementing marketing, promotional and sales strategies and expanding business opportunities in the children’s audio and video/DVD markets.
  • Garnering over 300 awards for a variety of audio and video/DVD titles and guiding a number of videos to gold, platinum and double platinum sales status.
  • Creating a distribution relationship with NewSound Kids Distribution for clients in search of national distribution. In just over two years, the umbrella label To Market Kids became one of the best-selling labels carried by NewSound.
  • As partner, manager and executive producer for Beethoven’s Wig, Kelland:
  •  ▪ signed the property to Rounder Records  ▪ created and implemented the packaging, marketing and advertising strategies  ▪ guided it from an untried concept by an unknown artist to the winner of a record 40 national awards, including four Grammy Award nominations  ▪ appearances by Beethoven’s Wig on NBC’s Today Show and NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered  ▪ in 2005 expanded the property beyond audio with the release of the first Beethoven’s Wig: Read Along Symphonies book, for which Kelland was the creative supervisor and editor
  • Producer and creator of Hear & Gone in 60 Seconds! which assembled a stellar roster of 29 of the finest children’s recording artists and presented them with the challenge of creating one minute musical gems. The recording, released in 2003, has won seven national awards and had been named one of the best CDs of the year by Family Fun, Child and Chicago Parent magazines.
  • Director of Children’s Marketing, A&M Records from 1990-1995, highlights include:
  •  ▪ signed Shari Lewis, Bill Harley, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer  ▪ marketed these artists plus Raffi, Sharon, Lois & Bram, Bob McGrath, Linda Arnold, Tom Chapin, Fred Penner, Frank Cappelli, Tim Noah  ▪ created the concept lines A&M Kid’s World of Music and A&M World of Parenting  ▪ increased special markets revenues by 700%
  • Widely quoted in publications such as The Los Angeles Times, TV Guide, Billboard and Video Business.
  • Appeared on A&E Network’s Biography of Shari Lewis.
  • Contributed articles on children’s music to national trade, news and consumer publications including Playthings, Baby Shop, New Age Retailer and The Los Angeles Times.
  • Past President of an independent children’s audio and video label.
  • Former children’s music editor, columnist and Writer of the Year award-winner for The Music Independent.
  • Occasionally gives seminars on the business of children’s music and is a frequent panelist at industry conferences.
  • For the past 6 years, co-producer of the GRAMMY Nominees concert and networking luncheon the day before the GRAMMYS.
  • Currently serves on the Board of Governors of The Recording Academy (Florida Chapter).
